In todays post we will be looking at an advertisement that
went viral last year called #worldstoughestjob. When the video was released it
circulated the interent rapidly, appearing on every social media website, as of
today the video has over 23 million views. In this video you see various people being “interviewed” for
a potential job. The employer conducting the interview states that the position
is titled ‘Director of Operations’. The majority of the video consists of the employer
outlining the extensive requirements s of the job. Some requirements and features of the job include:
High level of stamina
24 hours a day, 7 days of week with no breaks
No vacation
No pay
After a while of explaining these requirements, the employer
states that there are millions of people who hold this position, and they are
called Mum’s. At the end of the video it states “This Mother’s Day, you
might want to make her a card…. visit cardstore.com’. This type of advertising is very subtle and clever; because it does
not feel and look like an ad, it does not shove the brand down people’s throats.
The video captures our attention straightaway, most people would have watched
the video long enough to get to the ending where the brand logo and website are
shown.
