Mcdonalds vs. KFC part 2

Ways that McDonald’s and KFC differ

(Target audiences.)
Macdonald’s is unique in that rather than appeal to one target group, they choose to appeal to many groups by advertising product perks that would appeal to different groups individually. They are very successful as a business partly for this reason. They set up their adverts to appeal to different groups, which end up coming ot use the products aimed at them. They appeal to children as their commercials show playgrounds which appeal to families, children who want to play and parents who want somewhere safe for kids to play. They advertise to parents by putting in a café section, this is advertised in commercials to people who like coffee, breakfast and for people who are there with children and are waiting while children play who may enjoy a coffee while they wait. All those people know to come for coffee because it was advertised to appeal to them specifically.
They now also make campaigns to target health conscious people, seen recently in their lamb and fetta wrap and salad campaigns. The health conscious people will now see through careful advertisements, that there is a healthy option of them and come to use the products. Whereas if Macdonald’s just used the same ads for their favourite menu they would only reach so many people. By changing their approach, they can reach more people.
KFC is very different MacDonald’s when it comes to their target audience. While Macdonald’s tries to appeal to different groups individually through their adverts, KFC tries to appeal to everyone through their advertisements. Rather than be specifically inclusive they are inclusive to all. This is how they do it. Their advertisements show images of people enjoying each other’s company. They show people from all different ethnic groups, young and old all showing the emotion of happiness while eating KFC. This then sends the message that everyone has a good time when eating KFC. This then expresses to people that it is a product for everyone, that everyone can enjoy it. This idea is part of the reason they have been so successful.
Therefore, it is due to these incredibly effective advertising techniques that MacDonald’s and KFC were so successful. Their ability to use images to effectively convey positive emotions, have a strong branding, use multiple mediums to express ads and to effectively target groups which their products were designed for. That is why these groups have so successful, because of their effective techniques in advertising.
